The Utrechtsestraat has an eclectic, varied blend of boutique shops, records stores, quaint eateries and old Amsterdam bars and cafés. Close by is the characteristic ‘Amstelveld’ square where you can visit flower, antique and farmer markets. The area enjoys a relaxed atmosphere despite only being a five minute walk from livelier areas such as Rembrandt Square. The canals of this part of the city are particularly well known for their beautiful architecture and ease of accessibility.

We stayed in Amstelveld 6 for a long weekend and found the apartment stylishly decorated, lovely and bright with plenty of storage. The kitchenette is well appointed and easily hidden from view when not in use. What the bijou bathroom lacks in size it more than makes up for with a fabulous shower and clean decor. We particularly loved wandering down the nearby Utrechtstraat with its cafes, restaurants and boutiques; we felt a million miles away from the tourist hordes of central Amsterdam whilst being just a short walk away.
